League Values

What the VVHL is about: compete hard, respect each other, have fun.

Welcome to the VVHL. Before you move forward, please take a minute to read through our league values. By becoming a member of this community, you are agreeing to uphold them.

  1. Treat Others Like an Old Friend

Get to know the people you play with. Have fun in party chat. Learn each other's names. Be competitive, but remember why we're all here in the first place — to play hockey and have a good time.

VVHL was built to give adults a place to get away from the everyday stresses of life, compete, make friends, and enjoy organized hockey together.

Zero toxicity. Racism, homophobia, personal attacks, harassment, or intentionally making this community miserable for other people has no place here.

Have fun. Talk some hockey. Be competitive. Just treat people with respect and conduct yourself like an adult.

  2. Play to Win, but Lose with Class

We want every game played competitively. Everyone wants to win, and we expect you to compete until the final whistle.

Some nights you'll win. Some nights you'll lose in overtime because of one mistake. Other nights nothing goes your way and you get blown out. That's hockey.

Don't quit on your team. Don't disrespect your opponent because you won, and don't become a problem because you lost.

Win with class. Lose with class. When the game is over, give the other team a GG and move on.

  3. Commit to Your Team

Whether this is your first season in a league or you've been playing competitive Chel for years, when you join a VVHL team you're making a commitment to that team for the season.

Communicate with your teammates. Give your availability. Show up when you're supposed to. Be someone your teammates can depend on.

A good team environment isn't created by one owner, GM, or captain. Everyone on the roster has a part in creating it.

  4. Commit to Improving

VVHL has players of all skill levels. That's part of what this community is about.

Be willing to communicate, take constructive criticism, talk through mistakes, help your teammates, and learn from players around you. At the same time, if you're the more experienced player, help people improve instead of tearing them down.

We don't expect everyone to be the best player in the league. We expect everyone to be a good member of it.

At the end of the day, VVHL is bigger than wins, losses, stats, or championships. We're here to compete, have fun, build friendships, and give people a community they actually want to be part of.

Compete hard. Respect each other. Have fun. That's VVHL.
